SUPER EASY root for many different Android devices without the use of a computer!!

Do you want to root your Android device but don’t have access to a pc??   Do you want to root your Android but dont want to risk “bricking”  your device and end up with nothing more than a fancy looking paperweight.  Have you tried rooting your device with both framaroot and poot and your device wasn’t compatible with either??  Well you may want to try this rooting method.   Not necessarily the newest rooting applications in fact this rooting application mainly only works for android 2.2 (Froyo)  and early models due to its lack of recent updates but no matter what your device is its still safer to try than most other rooting method that require you to use a pc.  This application is compatible with multiple different android devices and one of the easiest rooting methods i have ever tried.  So if you feel this one is for you and wish to proceed with this method i will explain the steps in this article.

First things first you must do a little prep work on your device to get it ready to install the application and use it.  Dont worry though its nothing complicated or extensive just open the settings of your device and go under security and make sure unknown sources is enabled so you are able to install apk files that dont come directly from the google play store because like all other rooting applications they are not on the google play store mainly because if you root most android devices your warranty is null and void afterwards and im sure google wouldnt really want to advertise doing something like that.

Halfway done with the prep work.  All you need to do next is still in the settings of the device go into the developer options and enable usb debugging and allow mock locations if not enabled.  You need both these enabled for the z4root application to work and gain root permissions for the user and also unroot the device if desired.  Once all these options are enabled in the settings of the device the prepwork is finished and its time to download and install z4root.

Once you have all the preparations finished for your device and all the settings are enabled the way I described earlier in this tutorial.  Then it is time to download and install the application to your device.  You can find the z4root.apk file at this link.

After downloading the application on your device you can either select the file in the notifications bar once it is finished downloading or you can open your file explorer application if you have one installed on your device and select the z4root.apk file to open and install it.  If you downloaded the file and accidently clear the notification from your notification bar or you cannot locate the notification that states the file was downloaded and you have no file explorer installed on your device to locate the file so that you can open and install it you can go download and install the free application called Astro to locate the file and install it that way.  You can find the Astro file explorer at this link.

Once the application is installed and ready to go simply run the application and make your selection of available options.   You can either permanent root (compatible with only a handful of devices mainly Android 2.2 and older models), temporary root (gain root permissions for the user until the device is restarted), or unroot a previously rooted device.  Once the option is selected that you wish to proceed with the application will work and the device should restart in order to work.  Once the device is restarted you should have root access and if you choose to temporarily root your device you will have root access until the device is restarted again.

After you have gained root permissions via the z4root application I would recommend that you download and install the application Superuser by ChainsDD.  This application allows you to grant root permissions to applications that require it.  With Superuser installed whenever you install and open a root application a display box will appear asking if you would like to grant root permissions to the new application.  You will have the option to allow or deny or permanently allow or deny.  Without this application or a similar application even though you have root permissions for your device you still wont be able to use root applications.   Once you have root access as well and would like to check to be sure your device is properly rooted you can download and install the application Root Checker.  This application is very simple to use and self explanatory.  With just the press of a button you can check to be sure the device is properly rooted.  Here are the links for both Superuser by Chains DD and Root Checker.

Now this rooting application like i stated previously is not a new application and doesnt have many current updates so my recommendation is that if your device isnt running Android 2.2 or older or one of the devices listed on this list for compatible devices for the permenant root option of this application than i would try framaroot and poot first and if neither applications is compatible with your device and you dont have access to a pc to proceed with the device specific rooting method for your device than proceed with caution.  I have not heard anything about any devices being bricked by this application so the application is very safe but it is an older rooting method so again proceed with caution if your device isnt older and isnt listed on this list of compatible devices for the permanent root option of the application.  I will not be held responsible for any bricked devices because of rooting attempts done incorrectly or otherwise, but if you have any issues whatsoever with either this tutorial or any others you may email me and ill assist you in any way that i can to help you gain root access or fix the problem you are having with your device.

  1. it didnt work at all, after downloading the z4root and installing. i ran permanetly root my phone didnt restart and i tried to reboot i run root checker and it tells me SORRY THIS DEVICE DOESNOT HAVE PROPER ROOT ACCESS. help me plzzz

    • was your device listed on the list of devices compatible with the permanent root option?? devices that are not listed are likely to not be compatible with that option and if your device runs a firmware version newer than android 2.2 than the likelyhood it wont work either. this rooting application is mainly for older devices. if i were you i would try both of the other tutorials on my website for poot and framaroot. if you still have problems after you have tried those and your device isnt compatible than email me back and ill assist you in rooting your device using the device specific rooting method. ill need to know the specifics of your device also in the email. the model, the brand, and firmware version (can be found in the settings under about device).

good luck and dont forget to email if you need any further assistance!!

    • if your device isnt listed i would attempt the temporary root first to see if that works because once the device is restarted the su binary returns back to the original state in case something goes wrong. thats y the devices listed are only for the permanent rooting option. if the temp root works than if you wish you could try the permanent root. have you tried the framaroot and poot tutorials?? and is your device android 2.2 or older??

  2. Hey I already downloaded the z4root after i choose permanent root and is say you need to check the USB Debuging wtf what that sayin but i already turn taht thing on then try it again then is say need to turn on USB Debugin again … wtf its say always be like that could you help me please?

    • Im sorry you are having difficulty rooting your device. when you get an error message like that it usually means that the application is incompatible with your device. my recommendation would be to try the temp root first and if that doesnt work for you try the other rooting tutorials i have on my website. i have two other great rooting tutorials on my website that show you how to root most android devices without the use of a pc.

if none of these applications are compatible with your device than email me and ill be happy to assist you further with a device specific rooting method. just be sure to state the brand, model, and firmware version in the email (firmware version can be found in the settings under about device)
